Privacy Policy

Capy Quest turns family chores into adventures. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and the choices you have. We built Capy Quest for families, so keeping your data — and your kids' data — safe and minimal is a first principle, not an afterthought.
Who this covers
Capy Quest (“Capy Quest”, “we”, “us”) provides a web app and an iPhone app that let a parent create themed quests and tasks, and let children complete them to earn in-app coins. This policy applies to both apps and to the capyquest.app website.
Information we collect
Account information (parents)
- Your email address and display name, used to sign in and to identify you within your family.
- If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email from that provider — never your password.
- A password (if you use email sign-in). Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
Family and child information
- Children join through a short kid code that a parent creates. Kids do not provide an email address or password.
- A child's display name and chosen avatar (an emoji), both set up under a parent's account.
- Quests, tasks, and the in-app coins a child earns.
- Task proof photos that a child or parent attaches to show a task is done.
Technical information
- Basic device and app information needed to run the service reliably and to fix bugs.
- A sign-in token stored locally on your device to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How we use information
- To operate the core features: creating quests, completing tasks, attaching proof, and awarding coins.
- To sync your family's data across the web and iPhone apps.
- To authenticate you and keep accounts secure.
- To respond to support requests and fix problems.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use your family's content to serve advertising.
How your data is stored and shared
Your family's data is stored with our backend provider, Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage for proof photos). Data is encrypted in transit. We share data only with the service providers needed to run Capy Quest:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage.
- Our website/app hosting provider, to deliver the app to your device.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our users.
Children's privacy
Capy Quest is designed to be managed by a parent or guardian. Children do not create their own accounts, do not provide an email address, and access the app only through a kid code that a parent sets up. A parent controls what quests exist, what information is entered about their child, and can review or remove that information at any time. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent's involvement, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data retention
We keep your family's data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account or ask us to remove your data, we delete it as described on our Data Deletion page.
Your rights and choices
- Access & correction — view and edit your family's information directly in the app.
- Deletion — delete a child, or your whole account. See Data Deletion.
- Sound & optional features — in-app sound and other optional features can be turned off.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA (for example, to request a copy of your data or object to certain processing). Contact us to exercise them.
International transfers
Our providers may process and store data in countries other than yours. Where that happens, we rely on those providers' safeguards for cross-border transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
